Thanksgiving
What makes the noise gobble gobble? If you guessed a turkey, then you are in luck, because you guessed right. It was about that time on the Concordia this past sail from Cartagena to Palermo. Although we may have celebrated the occasion a bit later than by Canadian tradition, what better time to give thanks than at sea, when we are all gathered as a crew.
As any other Thanksgiving, the primary event was of course the grand dinner. In a courteous fashion, faculty announced that they would be taking over the students regular dinner galley duties. Once the dinner bell rang, the entire mass of the student body quickly gathered into the mess. Here, our dinners were awaiting us. Placed on the table (on a silver tray to make things even fancier), was a mountain high stack of carrots, broccoli, cauliflower along with some turkey filled with scrumptious stuffing. After an enjoyable meal, it was time for some desert; pineapple fondue to be exact. Mmm mmm what a treat.
Thanks to crew and faculty for taking over galley duties and being gracious hosts.. Whether it be to serve us some more juice when our glasses were empty, or to take away our plates when our stomachs were full, you guys completed the task quickly. Thanks to Jan, our cook, for preparing the nice feast. Finally, thank you to everyone for dressing up and making the night enjoyable; all 36 of us packed into the mess. Happy Thanksgiving!
