London

After eight days at sea, we finally passed through the lock still separating us from England. Tired and excited at the same time, we arrived in London. All around us, huge buildings stretched toward the sky and made us feel very small. At first the city looked calm and maybe a bit sad, but after a short period of time we discovered a large amount of people under ground, which made me think about ants. We didn't see many cars in the streets-- everybody traveled in the subway and fought to find a place to sit.
All of us discovered London differently because everyone had different interests. Some of us went to the Natural History Museum and learn about the evolution of the earth. Dinosaurs, marine animals, mammals, humans, all of them had their particular exhibits; they were all very interactive and interesting. Some others traveled in the city and discovered the monuments of London and places from famous stories or movies. Many students sampled the variety of food in the city. Chinese and Japanese restaurants were delicious but not like the steaks and the typical bakeries that we also found. One day, we went to a park with Speaker's Corner and we saw a big group of people, all assembled around one man. We approached to hear what he was saying. He talked about the society, politics, economics and everybody listened to him with attention. Sometimes, someone expressed their disagreement.
My first impression of London was not really good, I felt too small and insignificant in this big city. After a few days, I discovered the beauty of the city, which was very rich in history and culture. I can speak on behalf of everybody when I say that London will stay in our memories for a long time.
