Sailing and life onboard:

The Sørlandet will sail around the clock between ports depending on wind and weather conditions and route.

All sail activity is overseen by our team of professional tall ship mariners:

  • Learn the ropes – all 220 of them!
  • Stand watch – rotating watch duties include sail changes, climbing aloft to stow or to set sails, lookout, steering at the helm, handling lines as the ship puts to sea or comes alongside at dock
  • Join for ‘all hands calls” to work the lines while tacking and changing sails
  • Learn to navigate
  • Explore the rigging and mechanics of an authentic square rigged tall ship

Life Aboard:

All participants sleep in the ships ‘Banjer’. Fully renovated in summer 2012, the (air conditioned) banjer is an open area midships with a combination of fixed bunks and canvas sea hammocks (also new in summer 2012). Participants may select gender segregated areas of the banjer.

Head (toilet and washing) and shower facilities are gender segregated.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served each day in the banjer, galley duty is encouraged
