Update - Sail to Belem

Swim call!  Student Council elections!  Coffee House!  Photography Club contest!  Our Atlantic crossing is now officially complete and the last stretch has been full of exciting events and happenings!  We learned Brazilian Portuguese at Language Club (a new addition to our clubs aboard), and spaghetti night brought a surprise twist challenge with no forks allowed.  The student crew has been working hard both below deck and above - they have shown incredible dedication to their studies and to the ship throughout our crossing.  Spending almost three uninterrupted weeks at sea has been an amazing opportunity for our crew to engage and bond.  Nevertheless, all are excited to trade in our sea legs for time on dry land and to explore the adventures that Belem has to offer!  Belem is located in the Delta of the Amazon, the world's largest river!  Over the final days of our voyage the water has grown increasingly murky with sediment from the biggest rainforest on earth, a sure sign that we have been getting closer to our destination!  For our port program in Belem we will go further upriver by riverboat to explore and discover.  We will be spending the night on the riverboats and before sunrise we will be visiting Parrot Island to see hundreds of Amazonian parrots take flight!
